Adriatic

The name of Dubrovnik is derived from the Croatian word Dubrava, which means oak woods as, in the past, oak trees surrounded Dubrovnik. In 1667, Dubrovnik was devastated by a major earthquake which destroyed most of its Renaissance art and architecture. The city was reconstructed in the baroque style  The old town, so remarkably well-preserved, is on UNESCO's list of World Heritage sites. 

Herceg Novi  is a town with around 33,000 inhabitants in the Coastal region of Montenegro located at the Western entrance to the Bay of Kotor and at the foot of Mount Orjen . Herceg Novi has had a turbulent past, despite being one of the youngest settlements on the Adriatic. A history of varied occupations has created a blend of diverse and picturesque architectural styles in the city. It is well known as a spa and health center; nearby Igalo has an abundance of healing sea mud called "igaljsko blato" (Igalo mud) and mineral springs called "igaljske slatine" (Igalo springs). Discover castle Forte Mare built by the Bosnian king Tvrtko I in 1382, a clock tower built by Austrians in the 19th century, the Kanli tower built by Turks. Other famous attractions include the various ancient Serbian Orthodox churches and monasteries, which include the Church of St. Ilija, the Church of Preobraženja, the Church of St. Đorđa, the Church of the Holy Salvation (St. Spas), the Church of St. Archangel Michael, and the Savina Monastery.

The old city of Kotor is a well preserved urbanization typical of the middle Ages, built between the 12th and 14th century and is listed with UNESCO World heritage sites. The bay of Kotor is the deepest natural fjord in the Mediterranean Sea. Kotor is surrounded by the second longest city walls in Europe (4,5 km)  with ramparts, towers, citadels, gates, bastions, forts, and a castle, Visit the palace Pima built in renaissance style, the Palace Bizanti from 1641. palace Grgurina end of XVII century, palace Drago from XVI century, and the Clock Tower.

The old town center of Rogoznica is located on the island connected to the mainland by a bridge. The Gradina Peninsula is the site of a salt lake considered to be a natural bioreactor with biochemical processes and surrounded with vertical cliffs measuring up to 24 meters above sea level. The marina (Marina Frapa) is one of the most beautiful marinas in Croatia, with 400 berths. Be sure to visit the small chapel Virgin Mary and the parish church.

Sibenik is placed in the most protected natural harbour on the Adriatic coast. At the entrance into the St. Anthony Strait is the St. Nicholas Fortress, the most important renaissance fortress on the eastern coast of the Adriatic,  The city is renowned for having the largest number of churches in the old centre of all Dalmatian towns. Be sure to visit the Šibenik's St. James’ Cathedral, unique by its architecture (built entirely of stone slabs and ribs, with no binding materials) included in the register of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.

Skradin is a small town situated near the Krka River  at the entrance of the National Park of Krka. You will enjoy its numerous cascades Be sure to visit the Skradin Town Museum with a rich collection of exhibit items from the pre-historical age.

Split is situated on a peninsula between the eastern part of the Gulf of Kaštela and the Split Channel. It was founded in the 4th century. Split is the second largest city of Croatia. In 1979, the historic center of Split was included into the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. On the Split peninsula, is the hill of Marjan covered in a dense pine forest. Be sure to visit this unique sight 

Tivat is located in the central part of the Boka, south of mount Vrmac. Tivat has beautiful medieval palaces, monuments, beaches and unspoilt nature. Discover its new marina "Porto Montenegro".

Vrsar is situated on a hillside. The old city centre is full of culturally and historically unique sites, including many churches (Romanesque Basilica of St. Mary of the Sea from the 13^th century). It is recognized as the city of sculptors and you can find stone sculptures all over the town. The Vrsar archipelago is made up of 18  green small islands which offers a green environment and the crystal clear sea. Don’t miss the Lim Valley and its wonderful protected nature reserve.

Zadar , the capital city of Dalmatia, located in the heart of the Adriatic, is surrounded by historical remparts (Citadel built in 1409). Zadar is chocked full of monuments ( most notably St. Donat’s church, one of the best preserved pre-Romanesque buildings in the world) including the Roman Forum. Do not miss the National Museum  or its national parks (Kornati, Krka, Paklenica)
